He died of prostrate cancer. Notes for JAMES MATTHEW JENNINGS:
Matthew was in the back seat. The car was passing an 18 wheeler in a curve, on dippy road and they met a larger car head on. All four boys were killed instantly and the others were hurt. One was air lifted to a hospital and the other two were treated and released. The driver of the other car had a broken pelvis and in critical condition the last report we heard.

The dead included 20 year old Dillenger, 17 year old senior Jordon, 19 year old Gibert and 19 year old Jennings. No drinking was mentioned. Only excessive speed and poor judgement. The funerals were held together in the high school gym of this very small town. This sensless tragedy was a heartbeak situation for all four families and the whole town.
