Immigrant Breazeale

1. Henry Brassall,  b. ca. 1620,  d. ca. 1662

It is believed that our ancestral heritage in this country started in Colonial Virginia and moved into South Carolina then Tennessee.

A record in Virginia shows that immigrant Henry Brassall came over from England in 1643 and settled in Charles City County, Virginia. He was brought over under bond to serve a Walter Ashton for a certain period of time in payment of his passage, probably five years.

Not much is known of this but it is presumed that since he had to have his passage paid he arrived penniless. He worked hard, paid off his bond and was married and had one child. The name of his wife is unknown.

Son of immigrant Henry Brassall.

John Jefferson Clark Breazeale
Oldest son of John Jackson, born in Roane County, Tennessee on December 4, 1833. Nothing id known of his childhood days, but information in the hands of Mrs. Grace Keiffer of Redlands, California leads her to believe that J.J.C. came to south Missouri in 1848 by wagon train with thirteen families. Among them were two of his Aunts and their husbands, Melinda and William Stephenson and her sister Sarah W. and her husband William Vaughan. This would have made J.J.C. about 15 years old. He lived with relatives in South Missouri for about two years. He then returned to Roane County, Tenn. And married  Elizabeth Kollock on December 31, 1851 and then returned and settled in Christian County, Mo. Very little is known about Elizabeth Kollock. Her parents didn’t want her to marry J.J.C. and tried to hide her from him some place in South Missouri, she is probably Why he came to Missouri the first time. She also had a twin sister that lived in St. Louis at one time. There were three children by this marriage. Elizabeth Kollock died Oct. 27, 1862.
On Jan. 15, 1863, J.J.C. married Charlotte Cave a neighbor, she was born Sept. 27, 1827. She had three children. She died Jan. 27, 1868.
On May 7, 1868, J.J.C. married a third wife, Mary Chrisman, who was born Oct. 16, 1843 and had two children. She died Aug. 18, 1918.
J.J.C. was a very intelligent man. He served a term in the Missouri State Ledeslature. Formed the Bank of Ozark, also, served as Sheriff of Christian County. He liked nice things, lived very high. He became one of the wealthiest men in the country. As each of his eight children were married he gave them an eighty acre farm and a horse and buggy.
J.J.C. died April 17, 1899 and he and his three wives are buried together in the Breazeale Cemetery in Christian County, Missouri.
