Last Will and Testament of James Brazeale
I James Brazeale of the county of Roane and state
of Tennessee do make and publish
this my last will and testament hereby making
void all other wills by me at anytime made.
1. First, I recommend my soul to God who gave
it and my body to dust
from whence it came to be buried in a manner
suitable to my condition in life.
2. I give and bequeth to my son John G. Brazeale
my plantation with all lands
as may more fully be understood by refrence to
my several deeds of conveyance
with the present crop on the same except the
land that my son Andrew J. Brazeale
rented from me that the said A.J. Brazeale
is to have the rent reserving in the afore said lands and plantations a
lifetime estate for my daughter Mary Mahala Brazeale and also my daughter
Sarah Brazeale which they are to have so long as they live single and remain
on the said plantation.
3. I give and bequeath to my son John G.
Brazeale my wagon and one yoke
of cattle. 4th I give and bequeath to my daughter
Mary Mahala my bay mare. 5th
I give and bequeath to my daughter Sarah my roan
filly. 6th I give and bequeath to my daughter Margret Blackburn my
sorrell colt and one bed and furniture stid. 7th I give and bequeath
to my daughter Nancy Essell one bed and furniture. 8th I give and
bequeath to my son Henderson C. Brazeale 8 head sheep. 9th I give
and bequeath
to my son Andrew J. Brazeale 8 head of
sheep. 10th all of the remaining property to be sold in twelve months
credit and the money arrising from the sale of the same to be equally divided
with all of my sons lastly I do appoint my friend and relation E.W. Brazeale
my executor. Witness where of I do to this will set my hand and affix my
seal this first day of August 1854 signes and sealed in the presence of

Those were the fore going will and testament of
James Brazeale deceased
produced in open court and the executive and
declaration thereof duly
proved in open court by the oaths of Sanford
Ingram and E.W. Brazeale
two of the subscribing witnesses there to and
admitted to record and
ordered to be on recored witness my hand at office
this 1st Monday of
November 1854.
